I mostly left it turned off for the entire period of my time with the headset, and I suggest you do the same. So if you want to play music from your mobile device, or chat with friends on Discord while playing games on your PC or console, that won’t be possible unless you manually change to the Bluetooth mode on the headset (by pressing the power button once). It has other nice qualities, but so do its competitors—and those competitors offer more meaningful upgrades or features to rise above the most basic budget headsets.

The default sound profile is just okay, and shouldn’t impede your gaming too much on other platforms, but PC gamers will benefit the most from this headset given the ability to choose EQ it. While both headsets support deep audio customization via Corsair’s iCUE app, the 65 takes it a set further with a preference-based A-B test where you can pick which sound you like more and the app will create a custom EQ mode for you. Finally, the USB dongle is fully featured, packing in Dolby Audio processing, a hi-res listening mode, and SonarWorks’ “Sound ID.About this Corsair HS65 Wireless review: We tested the Corsair HS65 Wireless over a period of one weeks. Your voice will come through loud and clear, and is really good at minimizing sibilance and plosives – though you might sound a little compressed.

It’s Discord-certified, so your voice will come out clear and crisp, but it does produce a bit of a soft hiss when you’re talking, which might be a bit distracting to some. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not then work. The ear cups and the headband are sufficiently padded, and coupled with the lightweight body, and a forgiving clamp force, it should provide hours-long comfort for most users. I spent most of my time testing the HS65 Wireless while prepping for the upcoming Lightfall expansion in Destiny 2, which meant playing through a variety of different activities to really put this headset through the wringer. Aluminium Reinforced Construction and All-Day Comfort: A mesh grill ear cup design and an adjustable headband with aluminium-reinforced construction provide lightweight durability, while adjustable leatherette memory foam ear cups with soft fabric provide a comfortable fit through hours of gameplay. If you’re skeptical about the five different sound profiles – Pure Direct, Movie Theater, FPS Competition, Clear Chat, and Bass Boost – I get it. The tab takes you through a multi-step audio preference test that involves choosing from several different music genres then picking between A and B from several samples. Once you’ve selected your music style, the sample will play on loop and you’ll have the ability to toggle between an “A” and “B” version, a bit like an eye exam.

The only option that is useful here is “Mic Boost”, which gives your microphone some added sensitivity.Thankfully, the headband adjustment sliders seem to be made of aluminum so there is some structural integrity if you were worried about that. It would be nice to have a slider-type feature where you could dial in how much of the Sound ID you like, but as it is you either leave it on, turn it off, or run the test again for new results. The earcups are large, and it seems like there is plenty of padding, but I believe that the biggest factor for the questionable comfort was a combination of the ear cushions and clamping force. It’s a good reminder of what can happen when consumer product design goes well, and why headsets can still excite me.

As such, the Bluetooth functionality seems kind of pointless, unless you plan to use it as an all-purpose device for listening to music on the road, but it has no bearings in terms of gaming. The Corsair HS65 Surround may be a little slim on the extras, and if you want the frills, this might be too minimalist for your taste. Similar to the HS65 SURROUND, this headset isn’t exceptional, but if you want surround sound, it’s an option to consider. Thankfully, my voice came through much louder and clearer than anything else, and it even avoided clipping plosive consonant sounds from my speech. The Corsair HS65 Wireless gaming headset iterates on the previous version by adding wireless audio capability for PC, Mac, PS5, and PS4, as well as support for Bluetooth audio devices.Wireless or Bluetooth: Enjoy high-quality audio without the wire, featuring a range of up to 50ft and up to 24 hours of battery life, plus Bluetooth support for mobile devices and more.
