Flashlight: The system tilts the camera all the way forward so users can grip the base like a flashlight.

As I mentioned previously, the smaller size and lighter weight made it easier to maintain stamina over a long day of shooting 4-6 hours at a time. On paper, the size and weight difference doesn’t seem like much, but over the course of a full day of shooting the reduced payload was definitely noticeable and a welcome update! Update the firmware for the DJI RavenEye Image Transmission System using the DJI Ronin app by connecting the RavenEye via Wi-Fi. Do not disconnect the DJI Ronin app and DJI RavenEye Image Transmission System during the update process.

I also like all the added extras and on top of the prominent video features, there are also all the photo features such as panoramic, large scale image capture and plenty more. DJI introduced the Titan Stabilization Algorithm for exceptionally smooth footage on DJI RS 2, and this is a significant improvement compared to DJI Ronin-S. A new gimbal feature that DJI Ronin-S does not support is SuperSmooth, which can be activated for an professional level of smoothness. This feature compensates for micromovements and increases torque to stabilize even 100mm zoom lenses. This means if you are shooting on the move with the camera in different positions, your footage will always stay sharp.

The touch screen on the RS-2 is a great addition, but what really makes the RS-2 worth the upgrade is that the same screen can be used as a display when it’s paired with the RavenEye system. It may be due to the RS being new, and the parts just need to loosen up a bit, but the use of carbon over a metal such as titanium doesn’t feel like the right more. It feels like the decision has been made for aesthetic rather than functional reasons. DJI is really just competing with themselves at this point, there are many other gimbal makers with products out on the market but none of them stand up to the quality and usability that DJI has been giving us.The new micro-adjustment is an advantage, especially when swapping lenses and this makes getting that fine balance that much easier.

Panorama: After configuring sensor and focal length, choose a start and stop point for panoramas up to gigapixel size. It’s been a bumpy road for the end user, never truly being able to know which gimbal is best to invest money into and when but with the release of the DJI RS-2 and RSC-2, it has never been more clear that DJI gets it done. At the front of the RS 2, above the trigger, there is a dial. It can be set to many different controls and adjust the dial speed. Options include camera settings like aperture and ISO as well as gimbal settings like roll axis. If DJI RS 2 has a camera attached and is powered on while updating the firmware, make sure to protect the camera and lens as the motors will power off during the update. Added photo capture, video recording, camera settings, autofocus, and focus pull support for Sony A7M4 cameras with supported E mount lenses using Multi-Camera Control Cable (USB-C). To use autofocus on Sony A7M4, press halfway down on the gimbal camera control button.

New* Time Tunnel: The system performs a 360-degree roll while capturing a hyper-lapse, adding a level of creativity to footage. To fully develop and tailor the accessories for the new DJ RS2-series gimbals, Tilta and DJI have been working together on a deeper integration. Tilta has been involved since the initial development phase of RS 2. The process involved consulting on the principal products and the advanced planning of the accessories for the stabilizer. Carefully tailored for RS 2’s breakthrough performance, Tilta is now releasing a series operating solutions for both handheld and high performance mobile shootings that are optimized for professional filmmakers.
