About this deal

From 1945 until his death, he lived at Gipsy House, in Buckinghamshire, where he wrote his famous children’s books.

Dahl's publishers in the United States, France, and the Netherlands declined to incorporate the changes. His first children's book was The Gremlins, about mischievous little creatures that were part of RAF folklore.

Stealing can be political and it can be used as a very very weak brick against the wall of capitalism (but really it's more like throwing a feather into a tornado, it's not going to do shit), but it can also just be selfish and unnecessary. First because most of them are really bad at it and if you are bad at stealing you will get caught, or at least noticed and that's not a good thing.

Its title was inspired by a highly inaccurate and sensationalized article about the crash that blinded him, which claimed he had been shot down instead of simply having to land because of low fuel. I read it to my daughter in a couple of nights and added it to my “70 from the 70s” reading project. If you ever need a boost of serotonin, especially in the fall, this book is literally screaming at you to read it. Mr Fox is a delightful character full of charm, trickery and cunning who clearly loves his family and friends and will do anything for them. Then they have a great big feast and whilst all that is happening the men are still sitting in front of their tents waiting stupidly for the fox.

As with the other volumes, this one also features lots and lots of illustrations by Quentin Blake and I think they will never lose their magic. Little did I know that I was craving a comfort read in 2019 but would need a horde of them, by 2020!

I was expecting the illustration Inside the book to be in red or some colour as it was stated eg ‘red interior text’. Plus then you unlock the ability to watch the Wes Anderson film version (because everyone knows you're not legally allowed to watch movies until you read the book), and that's just even more serotonin for you. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Whilst I didn’t think there was as much dark humour and wit as in some of Dahl’s other stories it is still a fun and entertaining read.Dahl wrote more than 60 short stories and they have appeared in numerous collections, some only being published in book form after his death. His books have continued to be read and loved, and have been made into a number of hit films, including Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This is my favourite Roald Dahl book, they are all amazing, but this I keep going back to more than the others. Mr Fox is so clever that every evening he creeps down into the valley and helps himself to food from their farms - and those GHASTLY farmers can't catch him! It was released in 2009 and features the voices of George Clooney as Mr Fox, Meryl Streep as Mrs Fox, Bill Murray as Badger, Robert Hurlstone as Boggis, Hugo Guinness as Bunce and Michael Gambon as Bean.

So if you're going to go steal, go to some Wal-Mart or something, but watch out they have a wall of video screens in the back room with a small army watching them, just waiting to see you pocket some of their items. Dahl gifted readers some of literature’s most abiding and wonderful characters, from the lovable dream-whispering, word-mangling giant, the BFG, to magical Matilda, chocolate-maker extraordinaire Willy Wonka and many more. Everyone joyfully cheers for this idea, while Boggis, Bunce, and Bean are left waiting in vain for Mr Fox to emerge from his hole.Three farmers (Boggis, Bunce and Bean) want to kill a fox so they grab their shotguns and camp at Mr Fox's hole. Being well acquainted with the film it was fun to see what scenes from the book had been dramatized and I can report that Anderson stayed true to the book while adding some fun details for our viewing pleasure. Roald Dahl at his best - an oft overlooked story (at least until the film adaptation) this is lots of fun. But Mr Fox is a crafty, noble fox with lots of little foxlets to feed, and he isn’t going to give up that easily.
