I know that’s a Greek Spartan on the cover, but if you can overlook that, there’s a very good story weaving through the horrible fates being thrown at Marcus and Gustina. As soon as I set foot in Rome, I fell in love with that magnificent city’s history—in particular Vestal Virgins, the most powerful women in the ancient world. to the question posed by Russell Crowe’s character in the film, will indeed be entertained by this book.Readers will meet two generals, Pompeianus and Maximianus, who most resemble our hero General Maximus. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally). In A Gladiator Stole My Lunchbox, maths nerd Henry finds himself plunged back through time to Ancient Rome. Words to describe Hadassah and Marcus’s story are… epic, profound, life-changing, powerful, captivating, and I could go on and on.

The book talks about war between two armies and about a brave man Maximus who is one of the powerful men in the army of the Rome Empire.The story was retitled "Legend", although the covers of the first two issues include a large blurb saying "Inspired by Philip Wylie's Gladiator". It did downplay the weird relationship between Commodus and his sister, which was much more disturbing in the film, but overall it was a close representation of the same story.
