About this deal

The Todd Terje remix of Bryan Ferry’s “Don’t Stop the Dance” is a powerful mix that demands to be played loud. The mid-bass is elevated in the sound spectrum but mercifully not to the degree of boom-boom exaggeration. To assist you in traveling, P5 comes with a very unique padded quilted soft storage bag, though you have to be very secure in your masculinity since it does look like a make-up purse (an actual comment from my wife). They can also charge while playing audio so if you're on a train, plane or at your office with access to a power source then you can play and not worry about battery life.

After listening to the P5 Series 2, it’ becomes a little harder to recommend the P7 as a clear choice between the two. On this point headphone comfort will only ever be a personal experience and demonstration is key as your mileage may vary. The build quality is superb throughout the headphone and it can probably last a long time even when manhandled. The issues I had with the badly fitting eartips and funky Secure Loop design prevented me from appreciating the C5’s attributes. upon my first day with them bending to increase clamping pressure (bought used) and fiddling with ear position and pressing INTO my ears improved everything considerably!

However, this possible shortcoming is allayed by the fact that the cord is replaceable and cleverly accessible. The headband is well padded and the headphone was designed to fit on a human, not a rock, a rhino, an elephant, or a unicorn-monkey-horse. The overall presentation is like that of expensive jewelry, not affordable consumer-electronics gear. When you pull the ear pads off you can see lots of little thread of glue between the cans and ear pads. However, they won't maintain a stable fit under strenuous conditions like running or intense exercises at the gym.

They are probably great as a portable can, but I just never liked them enough to keep them around for desk listening. There is enough grip for a brisk walk, but we would caution against anything beyond a moderate headbang. Given the above description, it should come as no surprise to you that I am a huge fan of the P5 build quality. My final query was whether there would be a smaller profile P7 revision, taking onboard lessons from the P5S2.

org/t/576341/b-w-p5-modifications is essential and the cheapest and easiest upgrade to gain bass detail, dynamic and better definition in any freq. If you want to get the most out of iPhone or iPod, headphones don't come any better than the Bowers and Wilkins P5 Wireless headphones. With break in AND mod AND correct sweet spot, the critical bass is excellent, powerful enough to give justice to any kind of music, controlled and detailed enough to not miss anything in that department.

Surprising, because I would have thought that I would have broken that cheap thin cable they use by now. They have a durable yet lightweight metal frame that's sturdy enough to withstand moderate physical stress. It shows its weakness in tonal coherence when there was an upward swoosh in strings in an orchestral piece (forgot which one now) where the lower notes and the latter upper notes sound like they come from different instruments, which was not true. The soft leather head band and ear pieces are light and fit tightly, and they provide good but not complete isolation without any undue pressure. Some sounds even ambient sounds or voices from people speaking in live performances like jazz sessions seems so real sometimes I pull off the P5 to ask my wife if she was speaking to me or look around if there's someone moving in my room. I guess by now I established a point where these look like a million bucks, or maybe a few dollars less since I made the same comment about P7, and P5 is just a scaled down version of it So how do these sound? Unlike P7 which folds inward of the headband for storage to occupy smaller footprint, P5 has the ability to rotate its earcups 90 deg for a flat storage. Those of you who have heard them and were unimpressed, see if you can find a recently manufactured set. but I keep trying to get in all my cans the sound that I love from my 10 year old Beyer DT880 (impossible I know, Beyer has a unique signature sound).

And P5 is very good in soundstaging and presenting layers of instruments in the correct orientation with transparency and clarity. I'll not reel them all off here, but suffice it to say I've owned (and still do in many cases) Grado, AKG, Beyer, Senheiser and Shure are just a few of the companies I've bought from over the last 35 years.Considering that this is still the audiophile approach, I sampled the P5 with MP3 files toward the end of my listening sessions to see if these phones made sense as an upgrade for the average listener. Below, you’ll find a black woven carrying pouch, micro USB charging cable and an admittedly thin cable to enable wired listening.
