About this deal

Biography: Robert Gold is the Sunday Times bestselling author of the Ben Harper series, which includes Twelve Secrets, a Richard and Judy Book Club pick, Eleven Liars and Ten Seconds.

The plot and the way the book is laid out is easy to follow, broken down in days so it’s easier to get an understanding of time frame. The plot moves along at a swift pace and does require a smidge more concentration than other books in the same genre. Pamela fin da subito mi ha incuriosita perché era molto ambigua non voleva essere al centro dell’attenzione e nascondeva qualcosa. You’re left starting this book thrust straight into action with Ben Harper saving a masked man from a burning building but this would open up a can of worms when a body is found cast into the foundation of a derelict building. Thank you so much to Netgalley and Little Brown Book group for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The author is an absolute genius and has earned himself a place right on my top favourites alongside James Patterson - if you enjoy Pattersons books then this is definitely the way to go. This was an enjoyable read with likeable protagonists and I will certainly look out for the previous book in the series as well as any further books n the future. However felt the author fell into the trap of throwing everything at final few chapters, making what initially had been a good story convoluted and far fetched. Eleven Liars is a thoroughly gripping and highly readable follow up to the first book in the series. I was surprised when it turned out that one of the characters I thought was shady wasn't and it was someone I hadn't suspected at all.

Both Ben and Dani are engaging, likeable characters albeit with complex lives, and you can certainly feel sympathy for them. This one crime unravels other crimes, to which Ben is determined to get to the bottom of, and starts to investigate with his police officer friend, Dani.

A satisfying crime thriller that sucks you into the vortex of a close-knit community jolted by lies and violence ― lovereading. Dopo I dodici segreti torniamo ad Haddley e stavolta il nostro Ben si troverà alle prese con un incendio che svela un cadavere. Robert Gold is the Sunday Times bestselling author of the Ben Harper series, which includes Twelve Secrets, a Richard and Judy Book Club pick, Eleven Liars and Ten Seconds. But it’s well worth the effort as the story takes you on quite the rollercoaster ride with twists and turns, unexpected reveals and lots of surprises.

Short, snappy chapters, a plethora of flawed characters, a cosy village setting and a tightly woven backstory made for a fantastic read. There are multiple storylines that weave through this book, and although they appear unrelated, Gold slowly but surely skilfully brings them together. I spent a lot of my childhood days walking along the Thames towpath from Isleworth into Richmond and am familiar with a lot of the places mentioned – although no doubt they have long since changed from how I remember them. I’m sure Eleven Liars can be read without any knowledge of the first book but they’re both great reads so why not treat yourself and start at the very beginning. Gold has weaved a very complex family backstory for Dani and the further into the story you go, the more is explored and some of the revelations are a definite eye-opener. The pages and font is bigger and spaced out so it’s easier to read and not crammed into a smaller book.

I liked the slow build up of the plot with a number of strands which are gradually brought together. But when fire investigators start sifting through the debris, they discover a skeleton in the foundations of the building. Rushing to the fire he manages to save someone’s life, but doesn’t know who they are as they run off.Investigative journalist, Ben Harper, is on his way home from work one evening when he decides to take a short cut around the back of the church. As he uncovers a web of deceit and destruction that goes back decades, Ben quickly learns that in this small town, everybody has something to hide. Thank you to NetGalley, Pigeonhole, Robert Gold and Sphere/Little Brown Book Group for the chance to read this book.
