It would be unwise to start this great story with this book, as it would be more than a little foolish to have missed the first three books about this couple, but also confusing. But it would not be fair for this book if I didn’t mention how Sylvain Reynard stayed true to his characters! La verdad que no me hubiera ofendido para nada si Reynard hubiera dejado esta historia como trilogía ya que el libro anterior quedó bastante cerrado pero como dije anteriormente, me gustó, lo disfruté.

I have read hundreds of books since Gabriel’s Inferno, none of them have the elements I have found within the series. In this, much less intense, installation of Gabriel and Julianne, we see them navigating married life as new parents. For those who have read the „Florentine series” there were a lot of clues and points to connect, which made the reading very delectable. The story is a bit of a suspense, I felt like there was always something happening that I could not guess. Gabriel has vowed to be a good father when he suddenly receives an invitation to give a series of lectures in Edinburgh, Scotland - an opportunity of high prestige - but that would mean leaving his wife and child in Boston.Gabriel and Julia are learning to navigate life as new parents while still pursuing their academic and career goals. But they will soon learn that Julianne is as strong as she is brilliant, and she won’t allow anything separate her from her heart and soul. Once we're released it's all about baby, godparents, diapers, waking up in the middle of the night, family, friends, work. I enjoyed the first three books in the series, and while it took me a bit in the first book to warm up to the contrariness that is Gabriel, warm up, I did, and I liked this couple together. Gabriel has vowed to be a good father when he suddenly receives an invitation to give a series of lectures in Edinburgh, Scotland—an opportunity of high prestige—but that would mean leaving his wife and child in Boston.

Told from third person perspective GABRIEL’S PROMISE picks up immediately after the events of book three GABRIEL’S REDEMPTION wherein our heroine, Julianne Emerson has given birth to their daughter Clare, a difficult birth of which Julia is slow to recover. Although it’s paranormal romance, Sylvain Reynard’s poetic and romantic style is present from start to finish. While this story may not pack the punch as some of the previous installments, I think fans of this couple will still enjoy the reunion, as I did. The thrills and the passion are one of the main attractions for me and I always say YES to the challenge.
