About this deal

As I live a good distance from her it's lovely to hear her excitement when she receives her book and to talk about what has been sent on the 'phone. Packed with characters who are brilliantly drawn, emotional drama that touches the heart and magic that will effortlessly transport readers to the 1930s, Moonlight Over Mayfair is an outstanding read from dance supremo, Anton du Beke. Raymond de Guise is the show dancer with a growing reputation for being the most able dancer of his generation. Having barely recovered from the repercussions of the Great Depression, it is of the utmost importance that the Buckingham Hotel triumphs over all this adversity and rises like a Phoenix to be the majestic hotel it has always been meant to be.

I loved catching up on the characters like Nancy and Graham and Billy and Rosia and Graham brother Anton and Arther. But with Miss Edgerton having other more benevolent ideas about how to spend her lavish allowance, Maynard Charles can only hope it does nothing to detract attention from his mission to impress American businessman and potential investor, John Hastings Junior.Raymond knows that keeping his budding relationship with chambermaid Nancy secret is now more important than ever. I adore Downtown Abbey and Strictly so when I read the blurb for this gorgeous book and knowing that Anton is such a gentleman on the show I had a feeling this book was going to be Enchanting, Romantic and would sweep me off my feet and I wasn't wrong.

Oh my, ever since I finished this book I keep hearing the music in my mind and sighing at an era that I simply adore. Although I felt the novel got off to a slightly slow start, and I feared that this second book would be a reprisal of the first when chambermaid Nancy Nettleton, took her first steps into the hotel with the lead character replaced with her easily embarrassed brother and page, Frank, this did not prove to be the case. Of course being known for his dancing skills on "Strictly come dancing" this story centred around the ballroom of the Grand Buckingham hotel. I popped in a couple of weeks ago and picked-up a book for my grandma related to WW1 and Castle Donington. To be frank, I probably would have liked this because I love Strictly, enjoy the entity that is Mr Du Beke and am a tad partial to a meaty historical saga, however, I am delighted to say, with all sincerity, this is a very enjoyable read.I particularly enjoyed reading Maynard Charles’ story with his arch enemy Abner Grant and Maynard’s partner Aubrey. I love 💘 the love stories between Nancy and Graham and Graham 's brother and his beloved family and the Christmas stories too. As an historian, I loved the insight into the 1930s London in the period of the coronation of King George VI and the lead up to the Second World War.

Shaken by the Great Depression and with talk of another war coming, the Buckingham Hotel is trying to regain some stability. As Strictly's longest running professional dancer, achieving a remarkable decade in dance on tour with his professional partner Erin Boag, and as a much sought-after personality and presenter, Anton is the perfect author to lead the reader to the dancefloor as never before.

I wish to thank NetGalley and the publisher for an e-copy of this book which I have reviewed honestly.
