I think it's great for anyone who loves London or its history, or perhaps as a gift for parents/grandparents who might have been born in London and would be fascinated to see some old photos of places they grew up walking by.

Please note, if your pass expired recently and you renewed it online you may already have an account. To see the history that was captured was amazing, to see the history that has been lost was heartbreaking. Another fascinating image shows an old coaching inn, now lost, once frequented by the likes of Dickens. Images of such abject poverty are a stark reminder that while there is much that we might mourn the loss of in the way of historic buildings, the changes to London since these moments were captured have not all been for the worse. This book is not an architectural textbook, this book is written for laypersons, you don't need to possess any advanced knowledge of architectural history or architectural styles to enjoy this book.

Furthermore, if those who decide the allocations of the real and unreal are cruel, mad or colossally wrong, what then? These include the Wyngaerde Panorama, the Visscher Panorama, the Hollar Panorama, the Copperplate map of 1555 and the Agas map of 1560. The loss of so very many buildings because of the necessity of new road planning can be explained and understood as motor vehicles (cheaper) replaced horse-drawn conveyances. It got to roof level, complete with passages to parliament and to the Tube station, before the money ran out and most of it was demolished. This unique archival book shows Elizabethan, Georgian and Victorian London before the city’s major 20th century redevolopment and includes over 500 unseen photographs of London, taken between 1875 and 1945, from the Archives of English Heritage.

I haven't had much of a chance to read it myself yet but as I understand it, it comes with paragraph descriptions for each photo and more information about London's past. It is a photo book with old images from London, United Kingdom, taken between 1870 and 1945, providing a unique insight into how the city and its inhabitants looked during those years. Please note that before sending in your faulty pass to be tested, it is advisable to keep your current pass to present for visual inspection enabling you to continue travelling while you are waiting for your replacement pass to arrive. But we did watch the boundaries crumble outright between live performance and real, on-the-hoof film-making, to amply entertaining effect. An excellent account in both images and short supporting text of what has been lost from London's environments - sometimes for the better; sometimes for the worst.Writing for the London Evening Standard, Nick Curtis judged Harrelson's film, "A daft idea, the kind of mad, experimental challenge dreamed up by stoned film nerds after a Hitchcock all-nighter, but one he pulled off with considerable wit and brio. Mary Hermione Hobhouse (1934 - 2014) was an English architectural historian who was a general editor of the Survey of London. There are, he suggests, existing monuments that could happily be lost, and one or two lost ones that could just as happily be reclaimed. The film was produced by Harrelson and Ken Kao of Waypoint Entertainment, while Fathom Events assisted in the live production.
