The woodiness of the Agar is also prevalent early on but not at all in the medicinal way that Oud can sometimes be present, speaking to the obviously high quality ingredients. It wears quite linear but with different facets moving in and out of focus (the florals and the frankincense, mainly), yet it does seem to get gradually more dry over time with the tobacco-leaf note stepping up front to merge with the honey. A smokey ambery-vanilla…I do detect oud but it’s minuscule (it just adds to the smokiness combined with the incense), good for beginners. The frankincense smells nothing like that dirty or ashtray kind you'd expect in most designer fragrances. Oud is here in trace amounts, if not then this a brilliant iteration of a Oud like accord plus some amber and myrh, but the traces of Oud are just there to give a luxurious warm hugging affect and make the fragrance Middle-Eastern smelling. Sprayed it today and it’s very similar to the original Kalemat except for the fresh basil note and a smokier nuance. Longevity is best in class (24+ hrs) as expected from Arabian Oud house and projection/sillage are outstanding. However, I would never actually wear this to work; I would reach that blush-worthy stage before my workday is finished.I do really like Interlude, but if the similarities are indeed microscopic I can’t imagine this would be satisfying to me.
