Of course, Aramis 900 is not a fragrance that I want to score with the female sex or shine with at a party. Though floral fragrances were popular with Victorian men, in 20th-century western culture they came to be thought of as ‘girly’, though for no particularly logical reason as far as I can see.

For some reason or another it reminds of Easter because of the Easter lilies that are out at Easter time in church. In fact, I think you could get an almost exact, but stronger, replica by layering Jean Couturier Coriandre with Aromatics Elixir. The initial application of Aramis 900 seems strong and harsh at first, but it dries down and softens immensely. This one can't be worn by anyone born in the 1970s or later, but it still suits men who were in their 30s back then.

Immediately upon spraying I get the civet which smells a bit farty farmyard but it quickly disapates and gets in to the spicy woody rose.It has obviously changed over the years, and definitely some of the notes have changed, but this one has faired well. Civet in the vintage, only in the first 30 minutes or so, is the very incarnation of hyperandrogenism, overwhelmingly dirty and carnal.
