About this deal

LIMBONG: And so the other main character in the book is a guy named Brad. He is, you know, he's like that guy, right? He's popular. He's charming. He's handsome. And we learn early on that he and Celine used to be really good friends. But then, you know, high school drama gets in the way. Tell us a little bit more about Brad. An effervescent, funny, tender, and joyous story' YAMILE SAIED ME ́NDEZ, award-winning author of Furia

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Brown Sisters trilogy, comes a laugh-out-loud story about a quirky content creator and a clean-cut athlete testing their abilities to survive the great outdoors–and each other. Bradley Graeme is pretty much perfect. He’s a star football player, manages his OCD well (enough), and comes out on top in all his classes . . . except the ones he shares with his ex-best friend, Celine. Celine Bangura is conspiracy-theory-obsessed. Social media followers eat up her takes on everything from UFOs to holiday overconsumption–yet, she’s still not cool enough for the popular kids’ table. Which is why Brad abandoned her for the in-crowd years ago. (At least, that’s how Celine sees it.) These days, there’s nothing between them other than petty insults and academic rivalry. So when Celine signs up for a survival course in the woods, she’s surprised to find Brad right beside her. Forced to work as a team for the chance to win a grand prize, these two teens must trudge through not just mud and dirt but their messy past. And as this adventure brings them closer together, they begin to remember the good bits of their history. But has too much time passed . . . or just enough to spark a whole new kind of relationship? Well, alternating between smiling and tearing up at the emotional scenes. An emotional and satisfying story that’s well-written and heartfelt, full of Hibbert’s trademark banter and heart. Best friends to enemies to lovers. I spent most of this book smiling and screaming and wanting them to confess their love already! From the New York Times bestselling author of the Brown Sisters trilogy, comes a laugh-out-loud story about a quirky content creator and a clean-cut athlete testing their abilities to survive the great outdoors--and each other. I recommend this if you enjoy (a) giggling (b) strong character development (c) young love or (d) all of the above.Forced to work as a team for the chance to win a grand prize, these two teens must trudge through not just mud and dirt but their messy past. And as this adventure brings them closer together, they begin to remember all the good parts of their history. But has too much time passed . . . or just enough to spark a whole new kind of relationship? Celine and Bradley, who are charming, hilarious, and uniquely themselves. I fell in love with them. Celine: suspicious, sarcastic, sometimes emotionally avoidant, kind, and driven. Bradley: creative, athletic, sweet, witty, and very particular. LIMBONG: Yeah. So this isn't - you know, this is far from your first book. You've written a number of romance novels that are mainly aimed at adults. What drew you to writing YA novel?

the pacing and relationship development was wonky here, i'm sure as a result of talia having to plot across an academic school year, and i found the BEP subplot unconvincing (read: illogical) on several levels, and i think also that going from talia's adult romance to this is like watering down a really delicious drink. you can feel the thematic and stylistic limits of the genre working against her and her natural artistic inclinations. The first time I read it, I was squealing, clapping, raving about it with coworkers. The second read was more placid. I enjoyed it. But the thrill was gone. A fact I should have seen coming and purposively avoided. Shame on me. Crystal: Thanks for that awesome interview Jessica! I also searched and found some of her videos. Fell down a rabbit hole for a bit. 😉 K. Imani: I’m looking forward to WHILE YOU WERE DREAMING by Alisha Rai who is another Adult Romance author whose writing I love. I’m also looking forward to Rhythm and Muse by India Hill Brown as it seems like a swoon worthy story.
