Description

Known as “the studio legends”, the DT 770 Pro, along with the DT 880 Pro and DT 990 Pro, is widely known across the globe as the industry standard studio headphone. The PRO range contains classic world-renowned studio headphones that are great for producing, mixing, mastering and other studio tasks. In 1937, Eugen Beyer developed the DT 48, the first set of dynamic headphones, followed two years later by the M 19 dynamic microphone. The DT 770 Pro accurately reproduces the entire frequency range, lending power and precision to the low end while also delivering clarity and detail in the treble range.

They recommend the 80-ohm version for general studio use and the 32-ohm model for mobile devices like laptops and smartphones. To improve the effect, the DT770’s are fitted with an adjustable headband, which is surrounded by leather cushioning. Listening on headphones is a different experience from listening on loudspeakers, but the overall tonal balance is surprisingly close to that of a pair of top-flight monitors. Despite having an overarching V-shaped tuning, the midrange on the DT770 Pro does not feel subdued and there's really not much for me to say here. The DT 770 Pro 32 Ohm comes with leatherette earpads, as well an adjustable padded headband for maximum comfort making them ideal for long sessions. The single-sided cable allows the headphones to be put on and taken off frequently without cables getting tangled. The Beyerdynamic DT 700 PRO X takes clear inspiration from the DT 770 PRO with its large ear pads, thick headband, and Beyerdynamic branding along each ear cup.

After the Second World War, the company moved to Heilbronn, Germany, and now also has a US subsidiary with headquarters in Farmingdale, New York. If you’re looking to build out a recording studio or just have a comfortable-as-hell set of computer cans, definitely take a look at the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO (80Ω).

While they're sturdily built, their poor noise isolation performance means you can hear external sounds like bus engines and other commuter noises. For closure, I run these headphones through Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd Gen audio interface and you achieve the "medium-to-high" volume at 60% of the knob-turn.
