Honestly, this book was more annoying for me than anything else and I probably would not have minded this if it had been published right after Crush and as a novella. In the end, Grace and Hudson finally come back to the lair after getting hit by a time arrow (whatever that shit is) and Hudson looks at his watch and tells Grace that only four months have passed in the real world.

This book broke me into a million pieces and slowly but surely put me back together again and ended with such promise that I NEED Cherish RIGHT NOW.

But, like a lot of other reviewers have said, you really do need to read this to fill in the gaps and actually appreciate the previous book. It’s hardly a spoiler to say that Grace and Jaxon’s hate-cute, one that takes place over an amazing chess board within the first few chapters of book one, sets the stage for a tempestuous romance. Wolff’s descriptive head-hopping chapters, each narrated from Grace and Jaxon’s alternating viewpoints allow readers to visualise the academy, its inhabitants, and its mysteries, in cinematic detail.
