About this deal

My second encounter with the Dalai Lama was a few years later when he was speaking in a DC sports arena. Just do yourself a favour and find a copy of this book to entertain your thoughts with something just a little different to your norm! Through Snow Lion's experiences, we learn that instead of trying to change the world, the way to true contentment is changing the way we react and experience the world. So instead, I've downloaded the follow-up novel - The Art of Purring - and am currently fully enjoying the continuing exploits of HHC!

Yes, the first two The Dalai Lama’s Cat books have already been translated into Italian and others are to follow. Every book “takes a village” and in this case the village includes our wonderful designer Sue Campbell, Hay House editors. If you ever doubted that your feline companion has her own inner life, just watch what happens when she falls asleep, and loses conscious control of her physical being .When the cat is not discussing Buddhism but is instead behaving -- as a cat-- lovers of cats will recognize their favorite animal. He specialises in helping people suffering from chronic pain use mindfulness to manage their condition – often with astonishing results! Through the cat’s eyes and narrated in her voice, the reader gets a close-up view of the Dalai Lama’s inner sanctum and household. Throughout the book, as Mousie-Tung tells her story, the reader gets introduced to some of the basic concepts of Buddhism.

This is often loosely translated as meaning ‘loving kindness,’ but it actually derives from two words.Much of the book consists of the cat's observations: of His Holiness, of his followers, of students and of the personages that come and go through the temple doors.

David Michie is the internationally best-selling author of The Dalai Lama’s Cat series of novels, the spiritual thrillers The Magician of Lhasa and The Secret Mantra, and most recently Instant Karma: The day it happened. Her story will put a smile on the face of anyone who has been blessed by the kneading paws and bountiful purring of a cat. The book also emphasizes that personal happiness comes from a want and a desire to make others happy.A hair-raising chase through the streets of McLeod Ganj leads to an unexpected revelation about the perils of self-obsession. His books have been translated into over 30 languages and are available in more than 50 different countries.

It is kind of a beginner's guide to Buddhism with your instructor being a cat with a fairly high opinion of herself and the ability to eat herself into a butterball. Through Mousie-Tung’s eyes, the reader gets to see this kind, compassionate, and brilliant man go about his everyday business. In this book, the Dalai Lama sets for his lovable feline companion the task of investigating The Art of Purring. One thing I hadn’t counted on was how engaged readers would become in the life of His Holiness’s Cat – or HHC, to give her official title. Each chapter in this novel draws on a different Buddhist philosophy, and the reader gets drawn into the world of the cat, (dubbed HHC- His Holiness's Cat,) who learns Buddhist teachings and applies them to her own life while the Dalai Lama and others teach those around them who come for help. Though the theme of the book is Buddhism, I believe it will appeal equally to the spiritual as well as the non-spiritual readers.
