I think this show is the reason for my love of mysteries, murders and real life crimes, aged eleven this became my favourite show, and I've waited many years to see it again, it's held up remarkably well. John Le Mesurier had a brief role in the film, as did an actor whose face I recognised, but I didn't know their name (didn't recognise them straight away, but then it came to me (they played Reginald Perrin's boss CJ ("I didn't get where I am today. I have mentioned this before (but I'm quite enjoying this series (although as it's a part true crime series, that may not be the right word to use, "enjoy"), but one of the things I'm enjoying about In Suspicious Circumstances are the locations where Edward Woodward speaks about the details and questions etc. Two days later I was installed in a suitably Vie de Bohème apartment looking out on the Luxembourg Gardens which one of Mother's innumerable French admirers had put at my disposal. As a result he bonds with Baine, the home’s butler, who gives him more warmth and attention than anyone else – especially his house-keeping wife who seems positively cold to the boy. Before all that, Philippe happens upon Baines in a café meeting an attractive blonde who is introduced as his niece. A native French speaker living in war-torn London, Henrey had never acted before and Guy Hamilton claimed it was almost impossibly difficult to work with him, often having to film a few words or perhaps a single line at a time.

I would also like to see again Jesus of Nazareth (with Tom Fleming) and Paul of Tarsus (with Patrick Troughton). When these turn out to be untrue later in the film, we see the boy questioning his whole view of Baines who he suspects may have murdered his wife – though we, the audience, know better having witnessed it ourselves. Talking Pictures TV have announced its intention to air the British true crime drama television series In Suspicious Circumstances. I found the first story/case very interesting, but the second story (which was longer than the first) I just couldn't get into.
