So obviously, being in my 30s, I'm not the intended audience for the story of Lottie but I feel working in a primary school, especially in a year 6 class, gives me some insights into their mind. And I want to start this review by saying I think all year six girls should read this book before going to senior school. The message of this book is so important and I really think that age group need to hear it. Her growth through the book is huge and she ends her diary with the message that you shouldn't do anything you don't want to do just because someone tells you to and actually it's okay to just be you. Which I think every preteen (or tween as some in my class like to be referred as!) needs to hear. She openly discusses what her body is going through (or not going through) during puberty and comparing it to everyone else. From an adult point of view, I liked how her mum talked about it with her and celebrated her changing body and didn't make her feel like it was something to feel shameful about. We need more body positive talk! We understand that buying kids books can be expensive. I was a big fan of the Georgia Nicholson books when I was younger and this had the exact same vibe only it was more up-to-date.Teraz ako mám skúškové, tak mi dobre padla taká ľahká kniha, ktorá sa super rýchlo a ľahko číta. Kuidagi tundub olevat, et lasteraamatutes selle teema kajastamist peetakse liiga varaseks ja noortekate puhul mõttetuks, sest ah kõigil ammu teema selge (kuigi ka siis võiks seda elu osa ja selle erinevaid aspekte normaliseerida tillukeseski mahus). Päevad võtavad raamatus üsna suure rolli (kuigi muidugi on ka teisi suuri ja olulisi teemasid nagu sõprus, armumised, pere jne). Autor näitab nende eelnemisega seotud muresid ja rõõme, on informatiivne neile, kel see ees ja toetav neile, kellele teema tuttav. Normaliseeriv samas andes kasulikke nippe. Ja ausõna see ei ole üldse raamatus peamine teema, aga vot läks mulle nii hinge ja mul on hea meel, et lapsed saavad sel moel päevade teemaga tutvuda.In dit deel is het dan eindelijk zover en heeft Lottie een date, een echte date! Met Daniel, en ondanks dat ze er heel veel zin in heeft vraagt ze zich ook af of ze dan wel moeten gaan zoenen? Want dat heeft Lottie nog nooit gedaan. Haar lieve vriendinnen staan natuurlijk voor haar klaar en haar vrijandin Amber houdt ze liever op afstand. Aga muidu ikka fantastiliselt humoorikad Lottie seiklused nagu alati ja loodan, et tõlkimisele lähevad ka järgmised osad - see on koht, mis vajab eestikeelses lastekirjanduses suuremat täitmist.

Als Lottie met haar familie op vakantie gaat naar Frankrijk zal ze haar crush Daniel moeten missen, als dat maar goed gaat. Maar wat als er op de camping een ontzettend knappe Fransman rondloopt die ook wil interesse in Lottie lijkt te hebben? Pfoe wat zijn romantische aspecten toch soms moeilijk in het leven….Een best leuk boek over een meisje dat graag populair wilt worden en alles wat ze meemaakt. Ik vond Lotte soms best een toffe meid, maar soms wilde ik haar gewoon even doorelkaar rammelen. Ze heeft echt een leuke en lieve vriendin maar die is niet popi genoeg dus ja.... Ze bleef maar bij het gemene meiden groepje en leek ook af en toe niet te snappen waarom haar andere vriendin niet zo blij was met de zaken. Hallo, die meiden waar je bij bent zijn gewoon gemeneriken en daar wil niemand gevonden bij worden. Lottie brooks is 11 turning 12 and her life is about to officially start. She begins to experience the life of a year 7 and all the worries that come along with it. After her one and only friend Holly moved to Australia it feels like the end of the world for her. Dit boek leest als een trein, de vaart zit er goed in en door de humor en vlotte schrijfstijl vlieg je door het verhaal. Ik vind het Rampzalige sociale leven van Lottie echt een meidenboek vol herkenbare (puber) situaties. BFF’s, familie, de liefde en andere crushes, het komt allemaal voorbij en dat alles wordt verteld met veel humor. Het is heerlijk om te lezen waar Lottie tegen aanloopt en wat ze allemaal denkt. Haar leven lijkt een groot drama en ook dat is een feest van herkenning, want o wat kunnen puistjes en vriendschappen veel onzekerheid met zich meebrengen…. I had to eat all the KitKat Chunkys after reading the first book. Does Lottie have a new favourite chocolate in the next book? (from Poppy age 9) Don't be discouraged by my 3 stars. It would be more but it will never compare to my favourites with 4 and 5 stars being a completely different kettle of fish. Plus it does not resonate with my pre-teen self as much as others claim due to cultural differences, but it totally can and i honestly and fully enjoyed it, read it in one evening (very late evening) and am very tempted to reach for what the author offers for adults. So it is a briliant apple ona pear scale that one!!
