About this deal

Well, no such problems with the T3-R – it’s blazingly fast, even when running full apps like BBC iPlayer. Flipping between channels is also quite fast, though it’s not instant – there’s still a delay of a second or two between each channel. Win: With its built-in electronic program guide (EPG), this product offers a convenient way to browse and schedule your recordings. The EPG provides detailed information about upcoming shows, making it easy to plan your viewing and recording preferences. Its user-friendly interface ensures a seamless and intuitive experience. When using an Ethernet connection, occasionally after booting and the last viewed channel was a BBC channel, the BBC Red Button+ service would fail to load until the channel was changed. The future of television in the UK is undeniably tilting towards streaming, as evidenced by the upcoming launch of Freely. One feature that’s been sorely missing on the 3 series was global EPG search, something that’s been available on other Freeview boxes.

When a recording was scheduled on a channel but an alternative broadcast was recorded on a different channel, a second entry stating the recording had failed could be found in the Recordings menu If you still buy and watch DVDs, it’s reasonable to assume the preponderance of SD on Freeview Play won’t be a deal-breaker. For several weeks leading up to the discontinuation, consumers noticed that the T3-R had become increasingly difficult to find in online retail stores. This scarcity was a result of the device reaching the end of its retail life cycle. The T3-R was discontinued to make way for Manhattan’s next generation of Freeview boxes, the T4 and T4-R. The incorrect regional channels could be chosen when the T3•R receives signals from multiple regions.

Audio Description could become out of sync and the volume of the main audio could dip unexpectedly. programmes which have been recorded disappear and I cannot view them. A few days ago, I recorded 4 programmes and they showed up as having been made. When I tried to view them the next day, they had all disappeared! Therefore, the flagship T3-R was the only model still being manufactured. That has recently ended as well – but its replacement is on its way. Manhattan T4 and T4-R: First Look Britbox is one of the apps you ask for most and we are thrilled to announce its arrival to our boxes! We’ve shared all the details in this post and can’t wait to hear about the shows you discover on it. 3rd channel viewing and timeshifting

Win: The BT YouView DTR-T4000 provides various connectivity options, including HDMI, USB, and Ethernet ports. This allows for easy connection to your TV, external storage devices, or home network. You can expand your viewing options, access media from external sources, or take advantage of networked content. By offering a blend of new features, improved performance, and future-proof technology, the Manhattan T4 and T4-R are shaping up to be exciting additions to the Freeview landscape. Freely is being positioned as the streaming successor to Freeview and Freesat, although these traditional platforms will continue to function alongside Freely – at least for a time. HDMI-CEC support: when you turn on your T3-R it can now turn on your TV and change it to the right input and go to standby when you put your TV in standby. You can also choose to put your TV and any other connected devices in standby when your T3-R goes to standby. Go to: Settings > System > HDMI Options. As with any Freeview Play device, both boxes will support a long list of streaming apps – BBC iPlayer, All 4, My5, UKTV Play, CBS Catchup Channels UK, Legend, STV Player, POP Player, PBS American and BBC Sounds, along with a YouTube app. In addition to its core features, the HUMAX Aura offers a range of additional functionalities. It includes built-in Chromecast, allowing you to cast content from your mobile devices or computers directly to your TV. This opens up a world of streaming possibilities, giving you access to a wide range of apps and content on the big screen. Furthermore, the Aura supports 4K Ultra HD resolution and HDR, delivering stunning picture quality for a truly immersive viewing experience. When playing an ongoing recording immediately after using an interactive service like Channelbox (channel 271), if you fast forwarded to the live point and then tried to pause or rewind live TV, the error message 'This function is unavailable with interactive services' would be shown incorrectly. Not necessarily - older televisions might still require an external box to access Freeview, particularly if you want to watch channels in HD. The Manhattan T3-R supports 4K (UltraHD) and HDR content, but for the time being, you won’t get to use it much.

In terms of connectivity, the DTR-T4000 offers various options to suit your needs. It comes equipped with HDMI, USB, and Ethernet ports, enabling easy integration with your TV, external storage devices, or home network. With these connectivity options, you can expand your entertainment possibilities, access media from external sources, or take advantage of networked content.

This has left a gap in the market, as the T3-R is no longer available, and the T4-R is yet to be released. While I wasn’t able to do an actual hands-on review of the new T4-series boxes just yet, Manhattan were kind enough to give us a few exclusive details about the upcoming boxes and some of their new features and hardware. Manhattan T4

The device was an early adopter of Freeview Play, seamlessly integrating live TV with catch-up and on-demand services. The T4 and T4-R will also support Channel List Management, a newer Freeview function that enables HD-swapping of channels.

Manhattan T4 Series Pushed To October

Despite several pay-TV companies already offering Freeview-over-broadband, such as with Sky Glass, Sky Stream and Virgin Media Stream, Everyone.TV (formerly Digital UK – the company that develops Freeview) doesn’t provide a full streaming version of Freeview yet. Freeview On Sky Glass Usability is good. The home-screen provides access to catch-up players, shortcuts to the TV guide, and your recordings library. Even technophobes won’t be befuddled by this box. In fact, one of the main complaints I still hear about Sky Glass and Sky Stream– Sky’s broadband-based streaming devices, that already stream Freeview via the internet – is that they can’t directly record most channels.
