If tonight was a taste of what is on offer, then there are going to be some very happy people round the Preston area. It's always great to see new businesses setting up shop in North East Lincolnshire – especially in the current climate – so I was eager to go down to Nelly's Café on opening day and try the food for myself.

What remains on this top floor, are the walls doors and fireplaces, however most of the wooden floor boards have been removed, along with the ceiling. Treading carefully towards the only light source, daylight beaming through the dusting, cob-webbed windows, we can again peer down into the rear courtyard. It’s party night at the Nellie, Lancashire’s newest Indian opened its doors at 5.30 pm this evening, and WOW! What a party.... Allow me to be among the first to review this new restaurant. Southern-style fried steak served over mashed potatoes with pepper gravy and drunken collard greens The 2nd floor was originally a set of five individual public bedrooms of the Inn. This floor can no longer be used due to fire regulations, which would require a suitable public fire escape. In turn, the provision of a fire escape would probably infringe on the buildings conservation 'listed' status. The doorway in the foreground, to the immediate left, is the 'Cellar' entrance - although it's actually at ground level ! We'll have a brief look in there in a moment, by accessing it from the inside door.

Myself and a number of friends now refer to this small room as 'The Office'. It's here we'll often assemble to put the world to rights. A warm and inviting café with friendly staff, a down-to-earth vibe and delicious and comforting food has arrived in Cleethorpes.

So, four of us descended on The Bangla on a significant date for me the 17th of July, on a warm sunny evening to say adios, once again we were warmly welcomed by Tops and his team with a very warm smile and firm handshake. Incidentally, it has been suggested that the large wooden Press, that we are facing at one end of this room, could well have been a Linen Press - as it has large wooden draws beneath, which could have been used for linen storage. N ellie ▼ as a girls' name has its roots in Latin, Greek and English, and the meaning of the name Nellie is "horn; other, foreign; sun ray". Nellie is an alternate spelling of Cornelia (Latin): feminine of the Roman surname Cornelius. Nellie is also a derivative of Eleanor (Old French, Old German). Nellie is also used as a variation of Ellen (Greek), a variation of Helen (Greek), and a form of Nelly (English). Nelly's debut album, Country Grammar (2000), became a huge hit while featuring appearances by St. Lunatics, Lil Wayne and Cedric the Entertainer. The record went platinum nine times over in the United States and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. It peaked at No. 1 on the album chart, and the first single, also called "Country Grammar," reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and No. 1 on the rap chart. Having entered through the doorway visible to the left, we are now facing towards the main fireplace, with the windows overlooking Hengate to our right. The main bar's seating is primarily of the padded bench variety around the perimeter. Marble topped, iron tables are here also. Above each fireplace is a mirror. The main fireplace mirror is large and has quite an ornate wooden surround. At the top of the surround there has been a carving, only obvious by its absence. Rumour has it that during the Second World War, RAF pilots stationed at nearby RAF Leconfield, had one evening broken off the wooden eagles head at the top of the mirror, then throwing it on to the blazing fire beneath. The eagles head at that time was a bit too close to the oppositions symbolisms! By then my wife was ‘past ‘ eating - no apology for long delay - I then asked for it to be boxed up - the waiter did so but literally banged the box on the table with nothing said ! Stepping inside the bustling café at lunchtime, the first thing I saw was a huge board listing the wide range of meals on offer. I was glad there was so much to choose from. Big portions left all of us bloated and very happy. Then we were treated to a complimentary drink on the house.

Incidentally, as you might have guessed - this is the one public room within Nellie's that is reserved as a non-tobacco participation room! Fans rushed to the comment section to send their condolences to Monty, with one writing: "Oh that is such sad news so sorry for your loss of dearest Nell, she was adored by many." Another added: "So heartbroken for your loss. I love seeing your dogs as part of your world. Thank you for sharing Nell with us. As an animal lover and dog owner I feel your loss and sadness x." Nelly appeared in Adam Sandler's 2005 remake of the prison football film The Longest Yard and later landed a recurring role on CSI: NY. He also became involved in reality television fare by starring in two seasons of Nellyville, while also featuring prominently in Real Husbands of Hollywood and The Platinum Life. Clothing and Charity This room is the base, and practice area ('practice' being the operative word) of the Nellie's Pool Teams. The A-Team, for which I've been a member for some years, and now the last few years - Team Captain - has been exceptionally popular with most other teams in the 'Beverley Pool League'. This was mainly due to the fact that although most games were a close result, the other team usually won! However things have changed a little bit recently. Striking while the iron was still hot, Nelly released Nellyville, his second solo record, in 2002. On our right is a small wooden topped table, on a cast iron base, which has a horizontal-swivel top - which reveals a set of wooden rollers - ouch! I saw that this cafe was on route to a coast path walk we were going to do and pictures looked cute so thought we would give it a go. In late 2017, a 22-year-old University of Washington student sued the entertainer, claiming he sexually assaulted her on his tour bus and later damaged her reputation in his public denials.
