About this deal

I enjoyed the love triangle, even though it was clear who she really was going to choose from the start. I enjoyed getting to know both love interests, and I think they both had interesting stories and motivations. I had a suspicion about Stacie being “other” with the way she acted at the show & how she always seemed to have an affect on people to get what she wanted. Adam was barely on my radar since he was only briefly mentioned. I wanted to participate in the Fairyloot readalong but I didn’t have the time, and I’m kind of glad because going through the comments there it seems like I’m the only one who didn’t like this. Ava has been through a lot of heart ache but I think she wants to trust and love freely but can’t seem to let down her guard, in walks the good looking boy who I think your supposed to like but he annoyed me from the start! There are a lot more diverse characters but I don’t want to spoil anything. .

She takes out a pair of dark-wash jeans, loose and baggy. I only wear them that way or tight and stretchy enough to feel like skin—both work for running in a pinch. She glances at my face and takes my silence as confirmation that they’re okay.Officially part of Xander and Aristelle’s troupe, Xander amps up his flirting and he and Ava have their first kiss… but it doesn’t stop her thinking about Roman.

Cruel Illusions is a fabulous stand alone fantasy. There were some elements, especially towards the end, where I just wanted a bit more depth. When the dominoes are falling and all the kind of resolution and pieces are being introduced, I wanted to sink more into the developments. Into the consequences of thinking only of people in terms of monsters and heroes. This line which is explored between “who is the true monster?” is a major theme which I just wish we sat a bit more with. Here we have Ava, who had been moved about foster home to foster home (with her brother Parker) since the death of their parents, who were stage Magicians. Parker seems to have found his place in their newest home but Ava isn't sure where, or if, she fits in there too. Broken Masquerade: Zig-zagged. Vampires came out to the world a decade ago in televised appearances to try for peace with humanity. They went into hiding again soon after coming out, after one of their kind killed a child. In the present, the fact the vampires have been gone so long mixed with the fact they disappeared so soon after making their presence known has meant a lot of people have now written them off as an elaborate hoax.

Table of Contents

The story is about Ava, a young woman on the cusp of womanhood who has spent the last few years in foster homes after her mother was killed by vampires, though only she believes that. At seventeen, she’s taken in by a family that her brother fits in perfectly with, and she stumbles on a magic show that seems too good to be real. Which turns out to be true.

Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Roman is a vampire, but doesn't prey on humans like others of his kind. He only takes blood that he buys from willing hosts and also hunts both vampires who hurt people and other magicians who are using their powers to abuse others. Her imperfect character and the potential intriguing me. Her emotions struggles and actions seem real. I love to see that sometime new skills is hard to earned and the process is overwhelmed. She makes mistakes, alot and she always tried do her best at each bad conditions. I think Lucius may have tried to make more immortality stones and needed her mother for that, but her mother didn’t want to be die and/or be part of more blood magic and thus ran away.Monster/Slayer Romance: Roman is a vampire and ends up in a romantic relationship with Ava, a member of the vampire slaying group of magicans called the Society. Played with in that Roman hides the fact that he's a vampire from the rest of the Society and they think he's just a normal member of their magician organisation and are unaware of his true nature as one of their enemies. To sum up, Cruel Illusion is a book that I recommend if you are in the mood to read a book that is not too elaborate and quite predictable but full of magic, circus shows, vampires and with a cute romance! Parker and Ava Perry. We share a last name. It should be me and him, with everyone else on the outside. Jacob’s the bio-kid of the house. He doesn’t need Parker the way I do. But I keep my feelings off my face these days. When we first got here, Parker and Jacob bonded instantly over video games and Star Wars and zombies. They acted like they’d been friends forever. Or brothers. But I noticed Parker cutting his laughs short when I was in the room and looking at me like I was a fragile thing his laughter might hurt. It did. It does. But I want this for him. I’m glad he loves it here.
