Previously with the original Speak range there were two different lines for each model. One for USB-A and one for USB-C. However, with the Speak2 they have chosen to install a split USB cable offering both USB-A/C. For a speaker that is used on the go, when users sometimes don’t know what tech will be available in the meeting space, this is a huge improvement.

Copenhagen, February 28, 2023 Jabra, leaders in personal sound and office solutions, today launch the Speak2 range, the newest products in Jabra’s world market-leading Speak line-up of professional speakerphones which include the Speak2 75, Speak2 55 and the Speak2 40. The Speak2 55 is the first model in the range to go wireless, after the wired Speak2 40 model. Pressing the one touch Bluetooth button will initiate Jabra’s own voice narration to guide you through the Bluetooth setup. Once paired, this will remember your device and automatically connect if Bluetooth is switched on your laptop or phone. Similar to the Bluetooth functionality, one touch buttons for Microsoft Teams integration, volume control, mute and call control are all easily accessible. It's unclear if you need the dongle because the speaker has an integrated USB-A or -C cord to plug directly into a computer and charge the device, but the dongle makes for easier pairing.

I would probably like to be able to toggle the noise cancellation function on and off to use it to record sound. However, it is a beautiful device that is perfectly fit for the purpose of its design. Along with the USB-A connector, it has Bluetooth. A protective carrying case and lanyard are also included. There's also a USB out port for charging a phone. Battery life is rated at up to 20 hours.If we’re being completely honest, when carrying out testing, this is where we saw the biggest difference. The sound quality and clarity, both coming out of the speaker and when receiving the sound on the other end was a drastic upgrade on the original Speak range.

The boxing for the Jabra Speak2 55 is artfully simple. A small but sturdy cardboard box sourced from sustainable sources with no soft plastic to be found.
