About this deal

Charmaz's iteration of the constant comparative method was used during data analysis [ 27]. This involved coding of interview transcripts, detailed memo writing and drawing diagrams. The transcripts were analysed as soon as possible after each interview. Coding and interpretation of data was conducted by AS, a trained researcher with PhD and experience of qualitative research and grounded theory methodology [ 28]. Team meetings were held where AS, GGA and ECR discussed data analysis findings and compared their interpretations. Look at the active ingredients. In the US Sensodyne and Pronamel have one of two active ingredients: potassium nitrate, stannous fluoride or Novamin. I have split these into a helpful table below. If one ingredient isn’t working for you, try switching to the other. The active ingredient is the main difference with the pastes. Qualitative studies such as this one typically collect large amounts of data from a small number of participants: there is a trade-off between the number of informants and a wealth of detailed communications with each participant [ 28]. This study was not designed to estimate proportions in a wider population, quantify relationships between pre-determined variables, or provide a single representative or average view or opinion [ 28]. Instead, we sought to learn from participants how they experienced the introduction of TMP into daily oral hygiene routines and how they interpreted this experience as explained through their views, needs, values and beliefs. With regard to safety, no serious side effects or adverse events were reported in any of the studies included in the final review. However, five studies [ 35, 37, 39– 41] did not report side effects or adverse events in their papers. One study [ 33] recorded one participant with non-serious gastro-intestinal symptoms that were possibly related to the use of Tooth Mousse® and another [ 38] made the statement “although CPP-ACP had side effects” but did not make any reference to what the side effects were.

GC Tooth Mousse® adheres easily to soft tissue, pellicle, plaque and even hydroxyapatite; they react similar to the mineral/statherin relation in saliva supplying bio-available calcium and phosphate (and also fluoride in MI Paste Plus®) required for supersaturation to take place. The table below shows which pastes contain Stannuous Fluroide, and which ones contain Potassium Nitrate. Stannous Fluoride Beikler T, Flemmig TF. Oral biofilm-associated diseases: trends and implications for quality of life, systemic health and expenditures. Periodontol. 2011;2000(55):87–103. articles were identified, but the majority were duplicates. Once these were removed 172 articles were inspected and the focus on ‘CPP-ACP formulations of Tooth Mousse® (MI Paste®) and Tooth Mousse Plus® (MI Paste Plus®) resulted in 29 articles being selected, and of these 12 studies met the inclusion criteria and were considered acceptable for the systematic review. However, it’s important to identify the root cause of your sensitivity to prevent potential long-term issues. If your dentist confirms no underlying issues, a sensitive toothpaste may be a good option if your symptoms are becoming bothersome. How to choose a sensitive toothpaste Wu L, Geng K, Gao Q. Early caries preventive effects of casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) compared with conventional fluorides: a meta-analysis. Oral Health Prev Dent. 2019;17(6):495–503. Untreated and treated biofilms were fixed in 2% glutaraldehyde in DDW for 20 min, washed in DDW, air-dried, gold-coated and visualized using an analytical Quanta 200 Environmental High-Resolution Scanning Electron Microscope (EHRSEM) (FEI, Eindhoven, The Netherlands). The biofilm structure was observed in different regions, each with increasing magnifications. Statistical analysis Using a sensitive toothpaste may not be necessary if you only experience occasional sensitivity, but it is generally safe and effective. The main downside is that they tend to be more expensive than a regular toothpaste. Tooth Mousse is ideal for at-home use.
