About this deal

When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals and plants (suitable for children's toys as per. EN 71.3 (European norm) and fast to perspiration and saliva in accordance with. DIN 53160 (German industrial norm)). It seems there is a lot of confusion out there over the differences between all the Osmo products. I am asked all the time about how to choose which finish to use, and am constantly told the numbers just add to the confusion. And I totally get it. I felt the same way when first starting to use Osmo on my own projects. While I won’t be covering every single product Osmo makes, I can offer some guidance on the ones I do. I’ll try to make this as simple as possible. Ideal for all wooden floors, solid or plank wood, strip parquet, OSB or cork flooring. Highly recommended for wooden furniture. Also for slate and screed as well as terracotta and other natural (non-glazed) ceramic tiles. Please Note: Oiled or waxed surfaces should not be cleaned with a steam cleaner or steam mop as these will degrade or potentially strip the oiled finish. Renovation

Cleaning oiled or waxed floors with a steam cleaner or steam mop introduces high temperature and pressure water which can potentially degrade or strip the oiled or waxed finish. High pressure steam can also potentially damage wooden floors.Apply first coat thinly and evenly along the wood grain with an Osmo Floor Brush - use in conjunction with the Osmo Telescopic Handle for ease of application Cork tiles are best treated before fitting to avoid overlapping treatment of edges which would lead to prolonged drying times. A cork floor treated with Osmo Polyx-Oil will get a robust, elastic and wear-resistant surface which will harden further over 2-3 weeks. Due to the extreme absorption power of this highly elastic, natural, material we recommend the following procedure: For top coating Osmo white colours use white tinted Polyx Oils ( eg: 3040 or 3240) to avoid yellowing. Clear oils can darken the appearance of the wood. To retain the light character of oak please use Osmo Polyx®-Oil 3044 Raw. approx. 8-10 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23°C/50%, rel. humidity). Lower temperatures and/or high humidity can increase the drying time.

Now we come to the Polyx family. I think this is the one that trips people up a bit. It is comprised of five individual products. Four are clear, and one is not. Let’s start with the one that is not - Osmo Effect/Neutral/Raw 3041 (I have seen it referred to all three ways which also adds to the confusion). It has a 2% white tint in it to counter the natural ambering of lighter woods, such as maple, ash, and white oak. You can use either 1 or 2 coats, depending on the look you are after. You will never get a truly white finish from it because it only has so much white in it. It has more of a matte finish to it and should be topcoated with a clear Osmo finish. I have used it on both maple and ash, and the wood looks almost bare afterwards. Application of top coat of clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original can be carried out once the first coat has dried. However, if the first coat was a coloured Osmo finish ( eg Polyx®-Oil Tint or Wood Wax Finish Transparent) wait approx. 24hrs before applying Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original clear top coat. Some woods are highly porous and require an especially thin application, as a result the drying time can be increased.Cork flooring is highly porous and requires an especially thin application, as a result the drying time is increased (min. 24 hours per coat). Resistant against wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water in accordance with DIN 68861-1A (German industrial norm). Based on natural vegetable oils and waxes (sunflower-oil, soyabean-oil, thistle-oil, carnauba-wax, candelilla-wax), paraffine, siccatives (drying agents) and additives. Disaromatised white spirit (benzene-free). This product fulfils EU-Regulation (2004/42/EC) according to the VOC limit value of max. 500 g/l (Cat. A/e (2010). A. In short, 'No'. Oiled and waxed finishes on floors are 'Micro-porous' which means that although the wood is protected, it can still breath as it is not completely sealed as it would be with a varnish.

Floors finished with Osmo finishes are easy to clean, remove loose dirt with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. Damp mopping is easy with Osmo Wash and Care, simply add to warm water (slightly moist mop only). Multi-purpose cleaners such as washing up liquids and detergents are highly detrimental to the finished surface and is not recommended to be used as discolouration or staining may be possible. Natural oils accentuate the natural colour tone and grain of wood (permanent wet look). A dry Osmo Microfibre Roller can be used, if necessary, to roll out brush marks within 30 min of application. Due to its expert technical knowledge of the technologies and materials available across the industry, Promain has a reputation for outstanding service among its trade and retail customers. Apply first coat very thinly with an Osmo Double Blade Scraper, or other suitable applicator for cork floors. For small projects, an Osmo Soft Tip Brush can be used

Also Recommended

For optimal cleaning of floors treated with Osmo Polyx Oil, we recommend the Osmo Floor Maintenance Kit. The final surface quality is dependent on the wood's surface structure, we therefore always recommend to test the product on a small sample area before complete application.. Other household cleaning products such as vanish, bleach, baking soda etc. are likely to cause severe discolouration or staining.

Please Note: Osmo Polyx Oil, as with any other clear wood oil will enhance the grain and character of the wood by giving it a damp like appearance. To test how the wood will look once the oil has been applied, slightly dampen the wood using a clean sponge or cloth. Never saturate wooden surfaces with water. Once dampened, the wood must be allowed to fully dry before applying the oil. For daily maintenance, cleaning with a dry duster, floor mop or vacuum cleaner will be sufficient. For commercial premises, an electric floor polisher can be used.Wood surface must be clean and dry (moisture content max. 20%). Polyx®-Oil is ready to use, please do no thin, stir well before use. PaintWell increased its Industrial Paints offering with the acquisition of Promain UK Limited, the preferred UK distributor for many of the world’s leading paint and surface coatings manufacturers. A. Osmo 3032 used to be called 'satin-matt' but a number of years ago, they changed the name from 'satin-matt' to 'satin', the sheen level of the product however remains the same.
