About this deal

If you groom your dog once every 4 weeks, that’s 12 grooms per year. Over 9 years that’s 108 dog grooming sessions. No need to visit a professional dog groomer The “standard” Andis blade is UltraEdge. These blades go through a hardening process and have a chrome finish for extra durability. For most purposes, UltraEdge does a great job. The Andis Excel 2 is a 2 speed corded clipper. Available in Sparkle Pink. This is a run-out model that's being replaced soon by the upgraded Excel 5. Unless you’re buying a clipper with an adjustable blade, most Andis clippers come with either UltraEdge or CeramicEdge detachable blades. The included blade is usually a 10, so you’ll probably want to buy different length blades and guards depending on the cut. Andis sells a huge range of blade lengths and attachment comb sets, so you won’t have trouble finding one with the right length.

It only took about 30 minutes to clip my dog, and I didn't notice the clippers getting too hot in this time. They did get warm around 15-20 minutes into using them, and we did try the cooling spray (which you can buy separately) but if it made a difference, it was not immediately noticeable. I've read other reviewers comment that the blades heating up can be a problem, and if this does become an issue for me in the future, I will buy an extra blade and switch between them. The first thing to note about the AGC Super is that it’s a professional-standard clipper. The powerful rotary motor can cut through the hair of any breed or coat (with the right blade), while the dual speed feature provides great versatility. Whether you’re grooming a poodle, Golden Retriever or any other breed, this model can handle it. If comfort is very important (as it should be), you’ll be happy to know that they’re incredibly comfortable to hold and not at all slippery and as mentioned above. The Excel is part of the SMC range. This means it comes with a #10 CeramicEdge blade, which is more durable and cooler than UltraEdge alternatives. While the difference might not be huge, CeramicEdge blades are great for maintaining lower temperatures during long grooming sessions.

I’m a big fan of Andis dog clippers. But one of my biggest complaints is the quantity of models they have on the market. It’s great to have choice, but with nearly 40 Andis pet clippers currently in production (including color variations) it can be confusing to choose the right option for your needs. These clippers benefit all dog breeds and always work well on any coat. They’re great for both small and for larger dogs where grooming is vital and more frequently required. We cater for all clipper sharpening needs and servicing repairs to your clippers and blades in our well equipped workshop. Telephone lines are open from (UK time: ) 1030 to 1230 hours and from 1430 until 1630 hours Monday to Friday. Our offices are shut on Saturday, Sunday and all Bank Holidays. MBG2 – The MBG2 range is similar to the RACD, but with a heavy-duty exterior for extra durability. MBG2 clippers are powered by a rotary motor and are suitable for medium coats. Models in this range also come with either an UltraEdge or CeramicEdge blade.

There are a couple of issues with this model though. The first is that it’s a relatively chunky clipper. This is to be expected from a powerful machine, but may make it less convenient to use than a smaller cordless model (the Wahl Bravura is a good example). It’s also heavy, so if you want a lighter model look at the SMC range.

Like all SMC and AGC models, the clipper comes with a single 10 blade. You’ll probably want to buy extra blades or a stainless steel comb kit so you can vary length though. It’s compatible with UltraEdge, CeramicEdge and ShowEdge blades so you’ll have plenty of choice – and it can even fit Oster A5 blades. This heavy-duty focus has downsides though. Andis clippers aren’t the slimmest, although they are rarely heavy and are usually comfortable to hold. Some people prefer the freedom of cordless models, for which Wahl and Oster are better options, although this comes at the expense of limited run-time. This wide range can make choosing the best Andis dog clippers confusing though. If you’re struggling to find the right model for your requirements, the three clippers in this article are a great place to start. Make sure you read each review carefully to find out whether a clipper meets your needs though. The only negative thing I have to say about these clippers is that the instructions are not very clear - we did struggle for a while trying to figure out how to change the blades - but once you have that sorted, the process is very simple. We tested these clippers on two Shitzus and clipped twice, 5 weeks apart. They guided through any and all knots with ease, causing no pulling or discomfort for either of our pooch’s! Unrivaled value for money pet clippersWhat’s the advantage of two speeds though? It’s easier to groom sensitive areas with a lower speed, which is why the 3400 SPM mode is a useful feature. For a faster and smoother cut, the 4400 SPM mode is fantastic. If you don’t need the two-speed feature of the Andis AGC2 Super, the AGC 1-Speed is a cheaper alternative. It has many of the same features, including a strong exterior and 14′ heavy-duty cord, and still provides a professional-standard groom. Andis also produces EGT UltraEdge blades. EGT stands for “electro-glide” and means the blades are coated for a faster cut. Andis claims EGT blades provide a smoother finish. We believe that purchasing an inferior set of dog clippers that are a cheaper, less powerful set of clippers, is a false economy. They simply don’t last as long. Ergonomic Dog Clipper The Excel 5 model has the same top speeds as a 2 speed clipper, but adds 3 extra, lower speeds. The lower speeds reduce blade heat, noise and vibration for sensitive areas and anxious pets, and for use in areas where skin is thinner and vibration is more noticeable against the bone, such as legs, feet and face. The Excel 5 is also rated for full-body clipping for horses.

They’re a heavy duty set of clippers but they’re wonderfully lightweight and easy to use. They were designed to provide both the user and pet comfort and Andis have most definitely succeeded!

Excellent clipper quality

These are a set of incredibly durable, well made and a high quality dog grooming clipper. The exterior housing of the clippers are break resistant. They’re heavier than other models but not too heavy to cause your hand to ache. Heavy enough, just to let you know you’re handling clipper quality. And it feels great in-hand. Both are A5 model clippers. They fit all brands of A5 blades from size 50 (under 1mm coat length), up to size 3 (over 1cm), and all brands of universal comb attachments (for coat lengths under 3mm to over 3cm). They come with one #10 blade. Additional blades and comb attachments available separately. Over the years, we’ve discovered that purchasing clippers, designed and produced by a respected brand like Andis almost always cut well and perform lots of grooming sessions, leaving their cheaper competition in the sand.
