About this deal

I've given this an A for narration and a C+ for content at AudioGals - the narration grade bumps the overall grade up to 4-and-a-bit stars. Aiden Trewlove is one of six bastard children raised by Hettie Trewlove. Hettie was a remarkable woman who raised six remarkable children – five of whom weren’t even hers. She taught them respect, love, caring for others and how to be successful. Aiden owns two very successful clubs – The Cerberus Club, a gaming hell for men and the Elysium Club, recently given to him by his brother Finn, which caters to women. I saw one reviewer refer to it as a brothel for women, but I didn’t get that. Yes, there were a few of the men who worked there who would provide that service if the women wanted it, but the focus of the club was more pampering and caring for the women, giving them a place where they can feel beautiful, respected, and cared about. Having battled against the ageist attitudes of film and TV companies, she does think the tide is now turning as older women are increasingly being cast in leading roles. ‘I think maybe at last producers and directors have realised that, if they are going to be showing real life in the movies, then they are going to have to have people who are older. Look at Helen Mirren and Judi Dench – they are far more popular than me,’ she says modestly. On June 6, 1774, one day shy of her 18th birthday, Georgiana Spencer married William Cavendish, the 5th Duke of Devonshire. Based on Amanda Foreman’s biography, The Duchess recounts Georgiana’s story, a dramatic but tragic tale of one woman’s public adulation and searing private pain.

Soon we’ll see Joan playing The Queen’s late aunt-in-law, Wallis Simpson, whose relationship with the Duke of Windsor scandalised the Royal Family and led to his abdication. She’ll star in In Bed With the Duchess, written by her friend Louise Fennell. ‘I play the Duchess of Windsor from the time that the Duke died right up until her death. It’s a fabulous story,’ reveals Joan. And with her infinite reserves of energy, naturally she can’t wait to get working on it. So far, this has been my favorite if the series! This is a perfect example of LH putting her characters in difficult, morally grey situations. She writes her characters so well that you empathize with them and feel how hard it is for them to get out of their situations. In case of a discrepancy between these Agency Terms & Conditions and any other Canopy & Stars literature, these Agency Terms & Conditions shall prevail.

Fancy's story is next. I look forward to reading how her adopted brothers handle seeing her as an adult. The biggest issue I had with this book is that the feelings Aiden had towards Lena simply made no sense. He just “feels different” with her than any other women before for no particular reason except “it’s different”. He’s possessive...for no reason. He wants more...for no reason. He’s dreaming about her...for no reason. They’ve not had enough happen between them for him to feel that way and I don’t think simply saying “well, this is different” is enough to get my heart involved with a book.

Ironically, the Duke of Devonshire is perhaps the only person in all of England who isn’t enthralled with the duchess. Whether it’s shaping fashion trends or engaging with England’s reform-minded politicians, Georgiana’s charismatic presence commands the rapt attention of everyone around her.

Sexual Content

I keep repeating this, but family dynamics in a story mean a lot to me. And this novel wasn't the exception. Aiden's family is so loving towards Selena and her sisters, which of course, I totally loved. I especially loved Aiden's interaction with one of Selena's sister. It made me pudding in his hands! As owner of the Elysium Club which caters to women's fantasies, Aiden Trewlove is accustomed to introducing adventurous ladies to sin and vice. But he is uncharacteristically intrigued by the mysterious beauty who visits his club one night, yearning to indulge in the forbidden—with him. Drawn to her indomitable spirit, he breaks his rule of never becoming personally involved with his clientele and is determined to fully awaken her desires. I thoroughly enjoyed this addition to the Sins for All Seasons series. Of the six Trewlove children, I was most interested in reading Aiden’s story and Beast’s story. Aiden has intrigued me from the beginning, so I was happy to see his story. Next up is Fancy’s and maybe finally I’ll get to read Beast’s story.

The duke chases Georgiana into her bedroom and pins her beneath him; we then hear the sounds of him raping her. Afterwards, he says, “Give me a son. Until then, stay here and do as I say.” This rape results in the pregnancy that finally yields a boy for the duke. As well as her three grown-up children – Tara, 58, Sacha, 56, and Katy, 50 – Joan loves spending time here with her four grandchildren: Tara’s children Miel, 23, and Weston, 19, plus Sacha’s daughter Ava Grace, 18, and his baby girl Deia Shanaya.

Bosola, disguised as a tomb-maker, tries to take that from her too, telling her that her nobility can provide her no comfort, providing “neither heat, nor light.” It seems cruel to take this last comfort from her, but in doing so, he actually allows her true “glories” to shine through, not those based on her title or nobility, but those that come from the depths of her spirit--her courage and her deep familial love, evidenced by her domestic pleas to Cariola to take care of her children. A recent widow, Selena Sheffield, Duchess of Lushing, has never known passion, not until Aiden’s slow, sensual seduction leads her on a journey of discovery and incredible pleasure. But her reasons for visiting the notorious club are not all that they seem. There is a second meaning that can be read into Ferdinand’s eyes dazzling. Throughout the play, the Duchess is associated with light and Ferdinand with darkness--as when he insists on meeting her only with all the lights out--so here, when she lies in such angelic repose, Ferdinand is dazzled by the radiance of her goodness, which he had refused to see before. As he is so used to darkness, it hurts his eyes.

But Joan has plenty of projects in the pipeline herself and has no plans to retire. ‘People say, why don’t you put your feet up? I do put my feet up and I don’t do anything I don’t enjoy,’ says the actress (she prefers not to be called an ‘actor’), who recently filmed the medieval drama series Glow and Darkness alongside Jane Seymour, and the movie Tomorrow Morning, out later this year.He slammed his eyes closed as those five words— fall in love with you—words no other woman had ever bestowed on him washed over him, through him, around him. How powerful they were. How humbling. How breathtaking. She is the daughter of a British beauty (her mom won second place in a beauty contest sponsored by Max Factor® during which she received a kiss from Caesar Romero, (the Joker on the original Batman TV series) and a Texan who was stationed at Bovingdon while serving in the air force. Lorraine was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, England, but soon after moved to Texas. Her "dual" nationality has given her a love for all things British and Texan, and she enjoys weaving both heritages through her stories.
