Hurricane is a very big tank engine. Although he is named after a dangerous storm, at first glance Hurricane appears to be gentle, level-headed and friendly. But underneath his easy-going and cheery outside, he is controlling and oppressive and can act rude to others. Several times throughout the entire movie, he, together with Frankie, tries to convince Thomas that he must stay and help because Hurricane and Frankie helped him.
Hurricane works alongside Frankie at the Steelworks on the Mainland, with Hurricane using his strength to provide extra muscle. Unfortunately, the workload soon became too much for just the two of them. Hurricane was originally a 0-10-0T engine, but flexibility issues pressured him to have his wheels changed into a 0-6-4T, making it much easier to negotiate sharp curves in the yards and buildings. On Thomas' branchline, James grows impatient with some sheep who have stopped on the rails. Annie and Clarabel advise him to wait for the farmer to shoo them away, which James does not want to do and proposes to blow his whistle. Just as he is about to do so, Farmer McColl arrives and shoos the sheep away from the rails. The only time the Mainland Diesels have spoken, as two of them speak in this special and this is the only time Ulli is referred to by name. According to Michael White, Lexi may have been intended to appear in the twenty-fourth series double length episode, Thomas and the Royal Engine, but was dropped due to time constraints.
The only special to be seventy-three minutes long, over thirteen minutes longer than the usual length. Although he has a serious and typically unflinching demeanour, Cranky has shown that despite his cynicism, he is able to have fun. However, he often attempts to hide signs that he is enjoying something to try and keep his grumpy image. These usually go fairly poorly, but on numerous occasions he actively chooses to join in the fun and not hide anything. This story was published the day before the third series episode, Time for Trouble was first broadcast.
I wish everyone above all the best and thank you for your contribution to the world of Thomas the Tank Engine & his friends. Although I'm not a fan of 'S25', I will say this, it exists now and there's nothing we can do about it. No one from the general public is going care about the top 10 or 11 episodesor going to care about the lore, history and heritage of Thomas, sadly. To the general public, Thomas is just another kids show for them.
