About this deal

Allegedly, there’s a ‘Blue Lady’ known for luring in passersby and encouraging them to jump to their deaths. If that wasn’t creepy enough, there’s also a ‘White Lady’. She was once imprisoned in the dungeons and still haunts them today. Gwrych became a training venue for the English World Middleweight boxing champion Randolph Turpin in the early 1950’s. He himself had a paranormal experience whilst staying at the castle. Turpin told that a lady in a red dress was seen crying when he was walking in the garden one evening. He asked her what was the matter, however, she simply vanished! The castle has held many events such as medieval re-enactments, the famous Dragon Rally in the 70’s and movie scenes have since been filmed in the grounds. The family sections’ lengthy hallways and dramatic rooms are typically filled with the sound of laughing children. The paranormal activity in this area is so intense that “Ghost Hunters International” flew from Los Angeles, California, to record an episode of their well-known television programme for the SyFy Channel. Tyn Dwr Hall, Llangollen Incensed by the rejection, her spurned suitor gave chase and, having caught up with her at Newton House, murdered her in cold blood. But there are also said to be a number of friendly ghosts, including local clergyman Father Henry Vaughn and Fanny Price, who died of consumption when working at the inn.

We now make our way west along the A55 you will be spoilt by the coast views to your right and the rolling hills to your left. As you near Abergele you will finally see our fourth location on our most haunted places in North Wales journey. Namely Gwrych Castle. It was a vital area during World War I and II. People claim witnessing soldiers wandering through the woods and mutilated figures. Others claim falling over after feeling like someone was grasping at their ankles. The woman flung a loaf of bread across the bridge as it was being constructed, and her dog chased after it. The Devil never returned to Wales because he was too humiliated by the way the older woman outwitted him. Originally an abbey during the 11th Century, the Gothic-styled castle we see today was built as a country house during the 19th Century, and the sheer volume of spooky goings-on at the Port Talbot beauty spot have given the castle the reputation of being one of the UK's most haunted houses. According to the book, Haunted Newport and the Valleys, by South Wales Paranormal Research (SWPR), there have been ghostly sightings since the 1920s.In 1985 the castle sadly fell into neglect. The floors slowly fell through, the gardens overgrew, and the spirits were left alone. Nobody was there to hear the ghostly horse hooves treading the ground or see the dark shadows often seen. My personal experiences here Loud bangs are still heard in the dead of night, poltergeist activity is rife, and the most famous of spectres is the classic Lady in White who wanders aimlessly around the maze of hallways the building has to offer. With so much spirit activity that takes place at this location, it truly has earned its name as one of the most haunted places in North Wales Nantclwyd-y-Dre exterior

Colonel Prichard, once lord of the manor and an ally to King Charles I before joining the revolt against him - he has been spotted drawing up battle plans and contemplating his next moves With Halloween just around the corner, Compare My Move has been researching the most haunted properties in Wales to date and the history behind each location.

Castell Coch

When Patti died the castle, which was originally set in 1,000 acres – 11 of which remain – was sold and became a hospital before being used as a home for the elderly. After this reached the end of its life in 1986 the building eventually passed into private ownership. Sighs and voices have been heard, with others who have stayed there reporting dragging noises across rooms leaving them terrified.
