The HP Neverstop Laser 1202nw is good value to run but it needs to be, because it’s not particularly cheap to buy. For a similar price you could get a decent colour laser printer, such as the HP Color LaserJet Pro M255dw, although you’d be losing the Neverstop’s scanning and copying functions. Setting up the Neverstop Laser 1200w is all done through the HP Smart app, which talks you through adding the printer to your Wi-Fi network as well as alerting you to toner levels and allowing you to print directly from your phone or Google Drive. Windows users can utilize the desktop version of the app, which offers a bit more details and configuration via the printer’s dedicated web portal. The HP Neverstop Laser MFP 1202nw comes with a very clear setup manual, which you probably won’t need. The toner is pre-loaded, so there’s nothing more to do than plug it in, fill it with paper and connect to it with either your smartphone or a cable to your computer. Most manufacturers don’t bother putting a USB data cable in the box, so we’re glad to see that HP does. You won’t need it if you’re planning to make a wireless connection over your Wi-Fi network, or if using the Wi-Fi Direct feature, but sometimes you can’t beat a cable connection. Unlike the ink bottles used to fill the reservoirs of bulk-ink printers, where users simply upend them and let gravity do the rest, the Neverstop’s refill is designed to force, or plunge, the toner down into the bin through a sealed hatch on the right side of the chassis, just beneath the scanner.
