Hundreds of collectors have this toy ( 494) in their user collections, so it does seem to be very popular. It was correctly pointed out to me that this figure actually didn't come with the web splat effects. The butterfly joints at his shoulders work very nicely on mine, allowing for some great cross body punches, however, their backward range is a bit more limited unfortunately. Oddly enough, the shoulders seem to actually be better proportioned on this figure which inhibits the movement.The retro was both Amazing and Spectacular, but in hindsight the neck range could have been better—even with that little notch cut out of the back. Bill has read years upon years worth of Spider-Man stories, from the Ditko era, the Roger Stern runs (both Spectacular and Amazing), and even the Clone Saga, and many, many more. Once I figured out which arm each belonged in and got the arms in a pose that looked similar to the packaging, I turned the figure around and was appalled at how bad the wings looked from the back. Ditko and Lee’s imaginative partnership also introduced Spider-Man’s rogues’ gallery, a dozen or so Super Villains that have consistently menaced the Web-Slinger for six decades. Deciding that he is going to earn fame and fortune, Peter designs a spectacular costume and enters the world of professional entertainment only to allow a two-bit thug to run past him and escape with gate receipts from a show Peter was performing at.
