I love venturing back to Cornwall, whether to Portgalow or Port Karadow, I know I'm going to have the best time EVER and catch up with old friends and make some new. This was my first time reading this series and the fact that it is number 6 didnt matter it reads well as a standalone. Served on sweet wooden boards, you’ll get a fluffy scone, jam and cream, and if the sun is shining there’s a selection of tables outside, where dogs can join in on the celebrations too. Falmouth’s botanical garden awaits… Trebah Garden, is as good as it sounds, for the bottom of the garden leads y. Ben has previously had his heart broken so he’s not looking for love and has built a wall around him.She was stubborn and wasn’t going to admit to Esme that she would rather curl up with a book for the day.

It was lovely seeing her interactions with characters from the previous book though and it was nice for me to catch up with them too. This waterside beauty is making itself at home on both our list of the best beach cafés in Newquay and the best cream teas in Cornwall because of, well, the cream teas! She started off apologising and not having much confidence but by the end, she was a confident, independent woman. The glorious coastal descriptions had me from page one and didn’t relinquish their grip until the final page. Thea is not about to miss out on the holiday she had been looking forward to, so she decides to pack her bags and holiday solo.
Who doesn’t love a cheeky stroll around a garden centre before stopping off at the café for a coffee and a cake? The clotted cream is an essential part of a cream tea, made by heating unpasteurised cow’s milk and leaving in a shallow pan for many hours which causes the cream to come to the surface and ‘clot’. Thea Rushwood was looking forward to exploring the beautiful Cornish tourist spot of Port Karadow, but when her friend drops out at the last minute, she is forced to go solo. Her time at school had given Thea a mistrust of people that she couldn’t banish but books and her job give her a confidence that was otherwise absent in other areas of her life. When I think of Thea's first day on holiday, to how she develops over the course of her stay, I can't help but feel proud of her!
